Happily Ever After...?

So - i've been thinking (shocker!) about how our opinions, thoughts, aspirations and dreams change throughout our childhood, our teens and our lives. Im mainly focusing on the theme of L.O.V.E love when talking about this. I mean, most little girls dream of having that 'big white wedding', 'the princess wedding', the prince charming - the fairytale. But are these fairytales ever real? Do they ever come true? Do we believe? Or do we just plod on through life, settling for second best?

I wouldn't call myself an expert, but when it comes to love - i have alot of thoughts, experience and lessons learnt!!! When thinking about marriage, although i like to think of myself as quite anti-cliché, my dream wedding to most, would probably sound Über cliché.

First of all, the engagement ring. I have had this ring picked out since i was about 12 - an elegant classic in my eyes.

One carat, Princess cut, Solitaire diamond set in Platinum :)

I would like my 'proposal' to be unique though - not at the top of the Eiffel Tower :-/

I would like lilies. Lots and lots of lilies.

I wouldn't even know where to begin with a wedding dress? There are just far too many to choose from!

For the cake/cakes - I would probably have an elegant stand of cupcakes which tyed in with my colour scheme and theme.

Whilst on the topic of weddings and cliché - im actually attending a PIRATE wedding next year, im so excited!!! Me & the BF are going to Glastonbury with the couple whose wedding it will be, and they are both amazing :)

So - what are YOUR thoughts on marriage? Fairytale endings? And your personal dream wedding?

  1. Hi Laura

Thanks for the lovely message you left on my blog for me =)

You currently have a two column blog, so your posts are going down the left / middle and the bit on the right where your "about me", "archive" and "followers" gadgets are is your sidebar. To put pictures in your sidebar, all you need to do is...

go onto your blogger dashboard and click on design

on the right side you will see a list of your three gadgets you currently have in your sidebar

click "add a gadget" and then select "picture" from the gadget list

then you can upload any photos you like - you might need to play around with the size to make them fit nicely

You can also change to having two sidebars (one on the left and right of your posts) if you like - to change that go into "template designer" which is a link near the top left when you're on the design page. On the template designer tool screen click on "layout" and you'll see all the different options to choose from.

It took me ages to work out how to do some of this stuff and get a layout I liked! Have fun playing around with yours =)

    Gem xx

  3. I think when I was younger I though love was easy-you just fall in love and its perfect all the time. As I've got older I've realised that relationships and marriage are about comprimise and learning how to effectively work through problems as much as the fairy tale magic. I think going into love with the fairytale magic idea can lead to a lot of heartbreak, in my experience anyway!
